4, July, 2008 (weekend)

Like the rest of the Bay Area, we made our way up to the Donner/Tahoe region for the extended 4th of July weekend. Cam's family has a place on Donner Lake so of course we weren't the only ones there. Cam's Parents, 2 sets of Aunts & Unlces, and sister/sister-in-law Erica with dog Beanie were all celebrating our nation's independence from those gosh darn redcoats. After surviving the 5 hour trip up the hill (usually takes 3 hours), the whole posse dealt with more traffic on Friday morning to make it to Sunnyside on Westshore Tahoe for Brunch. The picture above was snapped on the beach while waiting 45 minutes for our drink order to be filled.

On Saturday we decided to check out Northstar to see what our favorite happy funtime snow hill was like in the summer. We must say, it was totally radical. Northstar has a serious mountain biking set up with great downhill trails all over the place. The nice thing is that if you don't have a bike, you can ride the lifts for free (well, as long as you buy a beer).

Greg and Erica made the trek with us to enjoy a great view at the lodge area top of Arrow Chair. What a view! We recommend hanging out at Northstar during the summer for anyone in the area. We'll definitely be back.

Satuday night involved a family game of flip cup. Here's a pic of the overall champions

We then went on a hike and after about an hour we found some snow. Cat snapped this photo of Cam making a cheese wedge kicker as he vowed to go back later in the day and shred the slush.
