Cam's Berfday in Chicago

Cat and Cam had some Rapid Rewards cupons on Southwest that were expiring and decided to blow them on flights out to Chicago! This trip just so happened to coincide with Cam's 24th berfday so it was a perfect timing. Luckily for the Hylands, Cam's buddy Tim-may lives out in Chicago and was happy to host the newlyweds (yes, we haven't been married a year yet so we can still call ourselves that). Tim-Tim and his GF Kellie were great hosts and gave us more than your average "Taste of Chicago". Props to our hosts!

The first night in Chitown involved going out to dinner to eat some of the best BBQ we've ever had. Smokeys has it going on, dawgs! Tim and Kellie were awesome enough to get Cam a velvet cake after the consuming of various meats was completed. Wait a second, that last sentence sounds really, really bad. Oh well, why start editing at this point in my life.

Did we mention that our friends Megs and Krissy live like 5 blocks away from Tim and Kellie? Well, they do and seeing them was totally awesome. On our last day in Chicago, we hung out with the girlies and went to a neighborhood swimming pool. Cam was sad he didn't get any pictures of the hotties in their swim suits to post on the blog.

On Friday we headed to US Cellular Field to watch the epic White Sox vs. Cubs game. After trying to Craigslist tickets we decided to just go to a bar by the stadium in Southside Chicago. And what a classy bar it was. Seriously, the place was filled with nothing but scalpers drinking MGD out of cans. After negotiating with a few of these scuzzy dudes we ended up getting tickets in center field. The game was pretty awesome with the Chicago vs. Chicago matchup. We saw three fights and people so drunk that they fell asleep in their seats. Classic.

The next day we checked out downtown and then took a few trains to get to the Lincoln Park area and hang out by Wrigley Field. The game was obviously across town at the White Sox stadium so we conceded by taking the Cousin Larry & Balki Bartokomous Perfect Strangers picture infront of the sign. I'm guessing the Blue Man group is coming to Wrigley soon? But I could be wrong.

That same day we went up to the top of some super tall building we can't remember the name of. After braving the super sketchy elevator, we made it to the 96th floor to drink some $13 cocktails and snap pictures of the city on Lake Michigan. Can you spot the Oprah Building? Or is it the Harpo Building?

We also went to Second City to see some comedy and drank some terrible midwest beer at a kegger. But we forgot to take pictures of these events. Chitown rules!

Hike In Marin Headlands

Cat had a great idea to go on a hike this weekend. After using the internets to figure out the top ten trails in Marin, Cat and Cam printed out directions to the number one trail on the list and set out to explore!

Getting to Point Bonita beach takes some effort. There is a one way tunnel that cuts through the hillside for about a quarter mile underneath highway 101. But the crazy tunnel is well worth it when you get to the beach and hike up to the top of the hill. As you can see by the view of the GGB, this is a sweet hike.

Cat and Cam wear their specially made hiking sunglasses which combine 100% polarization and blueblocking technology to make hiking 13% more efficient.

Part of our hike lead to a great beach. Lots of rock formations create some picturesque scenes as you can see in the picturesque picture. But the rocks also created seclusion and with Cam being lazy and not wanting to hike all the way back up the hill to the trail, he decided to wade around the rocks to Point Bonita Beach. The only problem was that Cam still had his phone and camera in his pocket. The cellie cell survived but the camera was fried. Luckily enough the memory card survived to put these picturees on this blog. But does anyone know where to get a cheap 10 megapixel camera? Thanks friends.

Face. Another Awesome Sunset

Hahaha! Rub it in your collective Faces! Because Cat and Cam enjoyed yet another totally awesome and/or radical sunset in June. It seems to us like we get one a month? We wish they happened every night but this ain't no Santorini.

Can anyone guess how we celebrated another awesome SF Apartment View sunset? A packet of Now-And-Laters will be rewarded to the first one who responds in the comment section correctly (by the way, Cam says his money is on Heather Romios).

As day melted away like a molten lava volcano (cocktail) into night, the temperature dropped into the low fifties. Cat and Cam then played a game of "how much warmer is it in Menlo Park and Napa?" and quickly retreated to weather.com to see who had the closest guess. You see, all is not perfect in SF. It just sometimes looks that way.

Tis' June, The Month of Birthdays!

And the first up was Cam's sister Erica. Her June 5th cumpleaños was her cumpleaños más importantes de su vida.........so far. That's because little baby Boocheeeka Erica Hyland celebrated her big Two-One! That's right, her 21st birthday, la gente!

OK, sorry for getting carried away with the spanglish but Cam did complete Intermediate Espanol at UC Davis (many, many years ago) en route to his International Relations Degree (which he doesn't use). But we digress......... Erica started off the night with floral abundance and champagne (actually, it is sparkling wine but whatevs).

The crew then headed to Suppenküche German Bierstein Restaurant in San Francisco. If this boot of beer looks familiar Suppenküche is the same restaurant that Cam took his brother Matt to on his birthday in January. See, this is what happens when you find a good restaurant that Matt likes. He just keeps wanting going back. Has Suppenküche become the new Hyland Family Obligatory Birthday Celebration dinner spot? Well, you'll have to wait until the post about Cam's 27th(!) birthday taking place on 6/26 (presents/gifts/candy greatly appreciated) to find out.

Now here's a cutie patootie picture of the newly crowned sisters (in-law) on Erica's birthday. Needless to say, Boocheeeka was enjoying her celebration.

Open your eyes, Greg! Clan Hyland (yes, the name is Scottish) enjoyed the German food/bier and Napa Valley sparkling wine of the evening. But most importantly, Erica enjoyed her 21st. We didn't make her take 21 (jello) shots but we did take her to a bar down the street and made her drink a post das-boot beer. The birthday buzz caused Lil' Sis to plead with Cam to take her out to a bar on Union Street for her birthday while they were back chilling at Cat & Cam's. Cam promptly agreed, got fired up for 2 minutes, and then proceeded to pass out in his chair while watching TV. Cam's happy to report that he did make it to 11:00pm. Happy Birthday Erica!
