Bay to Breakers 2008
After being out of town the last few years, Cat and Cam were really excited to partake once again in The Bay to Breakers. This San Francisco tradition has only gotten more fun over the years as the costumes get better and friends get more fired up to participate. Cam remembers actually running the 12K when he first moved to the city. This is laughable today as mobile discos and beer bongs surrounded our "Olympic Torch Relay" crew in B2B 2008.
Cat was on the Torch Runner team while Cam was apart of the Security Crew. With coffee moustache and ear piece communication in tow, Cam did his best to protect the "Torch".
Here's a picture of our friend Taylor with the "Torch". You first have to remove the "flame" and then it can be used for other purposes. The guys who designed the torch were geniuses.
The view from Hayes Hill is about as classic a people watching spot as there is. Folks camp out there all morning on the grass to get a look at the crazy costumes. If you aren't there when the Kenyans roll through then you're standing the rest of the morning. But if that happens you can probably just join up with the people "racing" and get a few free drinks.
We leave you with a picture of the Security team protecting the torch and mobile disco from some hippy protester. What a thankless job it was.
